Safe Work Australia is reviewing the model WHS Regulations for diving work to ensure they improve safety without imposing an unnecessary compliance burden on diving operators.
The Agency has produced a Consultation Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) with input from divers, training providers, industry associations, unions and WHS regulators. The Consultation RIS summarises the problems duty holders have reported experiencing with the diving regulations and presents three options to address these problems. It also assesses and compares the impact of the options using available data.
Written submissions addressing the problems, options and impacts in the Consultation RIS were invited to ensure the problems and impacts are accurate and the options are feasible.
The public consultation closed at 5:30pm AEST on Friday, 30 September 2016.
